SatMENA provides point-to-point (PTP) and point-to-multipoint (PTMTP) connectivity services over satellite links. By installing a VSAT terminal at each location, SatMENA can establish a connection back to its HUB located in Muscat at the Knowledge Oasis Muscat tech park. SatMENA’s HUB is then responsible for creating the interconnection among the various location, according to the needs and requirements of the customer.
In case of a PTP connection, the customer can choose the speed required and the level of availability, in order to determine the communication protocol.
For a PTMP service, the customer can choose whether the different branches can communicate among each other or if they only can communicate with the headquarters. In the latter case, it is up to the customer to decide whether the various branches can communicate with each other through the headquarters only.
With PTMP service chosen, the customer can also decide whether to dedicate a fixed amount of bandwidth to each location, which means a location cannot exceed it preset bandwidth, or if all locations will share the total bandwidth leased by the customer. In the bandwidth sharing option, a given branch can utilize any bandwidth not used by another branch, which improves speed and quality at each location, but which might also require a higher preforming terminal at each location.
The provided links can be dedicated or shared with various sharing ratios of 1 to 2, 1 to 4, 1 to 8 or 1 to 10 sharing ratios. The higher the sharing ratio, the lower the price and the lower the Committed Information Rate (CIR).
